A Visit from Al Carns, Our New MP for Selly Oak
We’re pleased to share that Al Carns, the newly elected MP for Selly Oak, visited the Spearhead Trust on 14th March. His visit is a great chance for us to show him the work we do to support the local community and to talk about the challenges many people in our area are facing.
Staying Connected with Our Local Leaders
Earlier this year, we welcomed former MP Steve McCabe, who visited our foodbank and kindly made some donations. Now that Selly Oak has a new representative, we’re looking forward to continuing our connection with local leaders.
Al Carns has shown real interest in seeing how we support families—whether through our foodbank, family services, or other community projects. Our team and volunteers work hard to make a difference, and we’re keen to share our work and discuss ways we can work together for positive change.
Why the Visit Is Important
This visit is about more than just introductions. It’s an opportunity to:
✅ Show what we do – From food support to family services, we’ll give a full picture of our work.
✅ Talk about local issues – We’ll raise concerns like lack of funding, increased demand for help, and the cost-of-living crisis.
✅ Make sure voices are heard – By speaking directly with our MP, we can make sure the concerns of local people reach Parliament.
A Look Back: Highlights from the Visit
We were proud to welcome Al Carns to the Spearhead Trust and give him a tour of our work in action. He spent time with our staff and volunteers, met with local residents, and saw how we’re responding to growing community needs.
We’re incredibly grateful for the time and interest Al gave to our work. His visit helped shine a light on the vital role grassroots services like ours play in supporting families across Druids Heath Kings and Selly Oak.
🙏 To our dedicated team and volunteers—thank you.
Your energy and compassion continue to inspire everyone who comes through our doors.
